It also represents the inaugural release by new Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, signalling a new era while maintaining the distillery's traditional craftsmanship methods.

Oloroso Sherry casks are known for their oxidative ageing process, which creates nutty, dried fruit characteristics that transfer beautifully to whisky during maturation. These casks contribute the bold sweetness, toasty warmth, and fruitcake notes found in this expression, while the 19-year maturation period allows deep integration of these flavours. The Balvenie remains one of Scotland's few distilleries maintaining complete traditional production methods, including growing their own barley on-site, floor malting by hand, and operating their own cooperage. Kelsey McKechnie is the protégée of David C. Stewart MBE, the world's longest-serving Malt Master, and this 19 Year Old represents her inaugural release as The Balvenie's new Malt Master.
