Starward Single Barrel #3191 is a modern whisky, fully matured in just one barrel, and that barrel to be exact is an ex-Barossa red wine American Oak barrel. There were only 250 bottles produced from this one barrel. While other whiskies might spend time finishing off in ex-wine casks, Starward, have made a break from tradition and employed full wine barrel maturation for maximum flavour and aroma. In the case of this Single Barrel #3191 bottling you can expect earthy, toasty mocha notes and juicy cherries with lashings of decadent vanilla spice.

Single Barrel #3191 is distinctly Starward, expertly speaking to the place it’s made, Melbourne. Melbourne's notorious 'four seasons in one day' is actually Starward's secret weapon when it comes to the maturation process. The constant changes in temperature mean the barrels are contracting and expanding at a much faster rate than say, they would in drizzly old Scotland. But where some would shy away from the unpredictable, ever-changing environment, Starward take it in their stride, using it to their advantage as these constant environmental changes let their whisky suck up every last delicious drop of flavour and colour from the ex-wine barrel wood.
