Why do we love this whisky?
One of the more mature releases to date, the 2024 9 Year effortlessly balances sweetness and spice, showcasing the uniquely rich flavour profile achieved via extensive ageing. Bottled at 114.3 proof, and crafted from a mash bill of 75% corn, 20.5% rye, and 4.5% malted barley, this release possesses an inherently bold character. As Pinhook heads towards the pointy end of their Vertical Series, we can't wait to see (and taste!) what they do next.
A note about the ethos behind the Vertical Series from the producer themselves, "The Bourbon Vertical Series is a unique opportunity to follow a group of 1,350 MGP bourbon barrels as they age from four to sixteen years, and experience the arc of flavors throughout the thirteen-year journey. Every year, Pinhook selects a group of bourbon barrels from the lot and blends and proofs them to create the most balanced expression of the whiskey at that age. The Vertical Series began with the inaugural 4 Year release in 2019, and the journey continues through annual releases up to age 16."
