Why do we love this whisky?
Originally founded in 1885 by J.W. McCulloch, Green River Distilling Co. (DSP-KY-10) was once known as the “most expensive whiskey ever sold before Prohibition.” Legend has it that 20 barrels were once traded for a stake in a Colorado gold mine before fire and prohibition relegated the brand to history...
Today, the brand has been proudly reborn in the exact same place it started, once again distilling its prized bourbon at the revamped and revitalised Green River Distilling Co. in Owensboro, Kentucky — the 10th oldest federally licensed distillery in the state of Kentucky. Returning to its roots, restarting right back where it all began, it's a powerful reclaimation of GRDCo's story. They've changed the brand's narrative from one almost forgotten to the sands of time to one of resilience and redemption... and really, really good bourbon.
