The Glenfiddich Gran Cortes is a breathtaking 22-year-old single malt that proves great things come to those who wait. This highly sought-after Speyside release spends over two decades resting in traditional oak before being finished in incredibly rare Palo Cortado sherry casks from Andalusia. It's a meticulous production method that imparts a stunningly deep red hue and layers of decadent complexity to the liquid. Expect a luxurious palate bursting with rich fruitcake, dark chocolate, sweet marzipan and vibrant citrus. It's an absolute triumph of cask management that'll instantly elevate any serious whisky collection.

Why do we love this whisky?
Glenfiddich has been shaping the landscape of Speyside whisky since William Grant first fired up the stills in 1887. Nestled in the Valley of the Deer, the distillery benefits from the crystal-clear Robbie Dhu spring water and the cool Scottish climate that allows for a beautifully slow and steady maturation. But what makes the Gran Cortes so special is how it bridges the gap between the damp glens of Scotland and the sun-drenched bodegas of Spain. Malt Master Brian Kinsman journeyed to Andalusia to hand-select the elusive Palo Cortado casks used for this release. Palo Cortado is a mysterious sherry that occurs by chance when the protective flor yeast dies off naturally, resulting in a wine that combines the crispness of Amontillado with the rich body of an Oloroso. When you marry those complex Spanish oak characteristics with Glenfiddich's signature orchard fruit profile, you get a whisky of phenomenal depth. It's a gorgeous tribute to the historical ties between Scottish distillers and Spanish coopers.
