Why do we love this whisky?
Founded by the legendary independent bottling family Hunter Laing, Ardnahoe is a spectacular addition to Islay's famous whisky coastline. Perched on the rugged north-eastern shore overlooking the Sound of Islay, the distillery draws its pure and peaty water directly from the depths of Loch Ardnahoe. What makes this terroir so special is the biting Atlantic winds and heavy coastal mists that wrap around the warehouses, infusing the resting casks with a distinct maritime salinity. To honour the island's rich distilling heritage, they are the only distillery on Islay to use traditional worm tub condensers, resulting in a heavy and meaty spirit that stands up perfectly to intense peat and strong oak. When you pour a measure of this cask strength beauty, you're experiencing the wild and untamed essence of Scotland's most iconic whisky island.
