Hine Rare VSOP Cognac is quite a unique blend in the world of cognac mofo. First crafted more than 50 years ago, this is an inspired selection of double-distilled eaux-de-vie from the illustrious Grande and Petite Champagne regions. Hine double-distill their base white wines with lees to capture the rich aomas and further enhance them by aging for 6–12 years, well beyond the 4-year minimum, in lightly toasted fine grain French Limousin oak barrels. The high quality Limousin oak imparts a deep amber color and significant, yet balanced, veil of spiced oak characteristics that complement and accentuate the fruity distilled grape notes of apricot, nectarine and melon. The final result of all this meticulous craftsmanship is a full flavour profile that showcases fresh, juicy stone fruits, wafts of orchard breeze, vanilla highlights and gentle warming spices.

Why do we love this cognac?

Around 25 different cognacs are combined into this stunning expression, but rest assured, Hine uses only the highest-quality components from the Grande and Petite Champagne regions for their blend. Afterall, mofo, these two regions are considered to be THE most prestigious out of all six Cognac crus. So when Cognacs from these two top-tier appellations are blended, and contain a minimum of at least 50% from Grande Champagne, the result is given the protected designation (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) of origin of 'Fine Champagne Cognac', which acts as a guarantee of quality and origin within the Cognac region of France. Pretty cool stuff if you ask us... and pretty damn delicious too.
